Chantelmerle is one village in string of around four in the valley of Serre Chevalier. Starting with Briancon at a height of 1250m you drive up the valley, passing the farming village of St.Chaffrey to reach Chantemerle at 1350m.
Carry on and you will reach the larger village of Villeneuve where many of the whitewater rafting starts in the summer. Further up the village is Monetier, where you can find the natural hot baths. Carry on further and you end up at off piste skiing heaven La Grave and eventually Grenoble.
